“Nobody wakes up and says you know when I grow up I’m going to have an abortion. They are going through something.” “LifeHouse,“ a short investigative film, follows a group of young pro-life activists who move to New York to work for Expectant Mother Care, an anti-abortion crisis pregnancy center. The film puts the viewer in the room at these misleading clinics, as volunteer recruits are taught how to deceive women. This first film, created by Heba Elorbany in 2017, touches on a variety of themes—women’s issues, religion and identity, politics, policy and cultural debates. Her more recent film, “An Act of Worship,” is about Muslim-American activists resisting Islamophobic policies. vimeo.com/246310308
