Sarah Aroeste Releases Groundbreaking Album
Ladino is listed by UNESCO as an endangered language. Writing in an editorial in The Forward about the importance of keeping Ladino alive, musician Sarah Aroeste argues that “Preservation is not only about looking backwards though; we must be creative in how we look ahead to keep the culture moving forward. Ladino is worth the effort.” With her latest music, releasing this fall, Aroeste is doing exactly that. Her new album, “Together/ Endjuntos,” the first of its kind, consists of original compositions of bilingual songs for holidays on the Jewish calendar.
