HaZamir

HaZamir: The International Jewish Teen Choir celebrated its 25th anniversary in March in a gala concert drawing over 400 teen singers from a broad spectrum of social, religious and educational backgrounds. The singers meet throughout the year in 31 American and seven Israeli chapters, using Jewish choral music as a vehicle to foster Jewish identity, community and continuity. In all of the choirs of the Zamir Choral Foundation, males and females sing together. Each annual concert in New York is preceded by a three-day retreat. “Through the process of putting together a large and multi-faceted group enterprise, HaZamir is a valuable training ground for the real world,” says Vivian Lazar, HaZamir’s director since 2004. zamirchoralfoundation.org
