Paradoxically, Sex Abuse at Camp May Not Always “Feel Bad”

“Physical abuse or bullying — they always feel bad. And with sex abuse, I always say to parents, you have to remember that you can’t use the language of ‘it’s guaranteed to feel bad.’ Because not all sex crimes feel physically bad. And I know that’s a really uncomfortable thing for us to think about…but at the end of the day, if you’re trying to differentiate between one type of crime and a sex crime, it’s that it’s hard to categorize it as something that will always feel bad.”
